What was life like before training with V&B Athletic?

I joined V&B Athletic in 2020 after getting to know Jase and DJ through the Bali Hope event plus hearing great feedback from other athletes about V&B Athletic.

Being new to trail running, starting in the middle of 2020, I was keen to enlist V&B Athletics’ support in my journey to educating me on a holistic way to approach ultra-distance trail running.

While I had some key upcoming trail events that I was training with V&B Athletic, I wanted to learn along the journey from the best in the business on how to become a smarter, stronger and healthy athlete for future long term running goals. With decades of experience in endurance events and ultra running, I knew I couldn’t go past the team at V&B Athletic to reach these goals.

Prior to working with V&B Athletic, I realised my training in the past had limited structure and lacked an understanding of the purpose of each training session. While I was running a lot of distance each week the sessions I was doing independently lacked specificity for what I was training for.

What have you achieved?

While I may have placed 3rd female in my first ever technical alpine trail run at The Archie this year, I think the knowledge and wisdom I have gained through the 16-week program with V&B Athletic has been the biggest achievement.

I have learnt so much along the way that has allowed me to be the best athlete I can be, whether that be the importance of strength and conditioning, the specificity of training, listening to your body, load management and running less can mean more. The weekly calls with Jase allowed me to talk out any questions I had on things like event preparation, recovery, the weekly training sessions ahead. This transfer of knowledge from Jase made me the strongest athlete I could be at the end of the program and this was the greatest achievement for me training with V&B Athletic.

Without the support, the guidance of V&B that wouldn’t have been something that I was able to achieve.
