Natalie’s Story

What was life like before training with V&B Athletic?

I joined V&B to help me get ready for a 50KM race, I had previously run a 25KM trail race and wanted to be trained by the best to get ready for the race.

Since Covid, my training had dropped right down and I wanted to start something new to motivate me to new fitness levels. I was feeling stagnant and unmotivated and was looking for a new challenge.

What have you achieved?

My first ultra-marathon, The Australian Alpine Ascent 50km in the Snowy Mountains of NSW!

V&B gave me a 3.5-month training program and a deadline to get ready for the race.

For the first month, I was doing it on my own over Christmas. It kept me to a new rhythm through the app and I had diversity in my running… instead of just 10KM trots I was doing sprints, hills and tempo runs. It taught me you need diversity in your training.

After the first month, I added STRONGCorps and RUNCorps into my program, I am a social person and loved meeting new people, especially now that I work from home. I met lots of inspiring people to learn from and they really helped with my journey.

I was able to comfortably complete my first Ultramarathon, and 50KM trail race, which included hiking up a mountain twice!

Without the support, the guidance of V&B that wouldn’t have been something that I was able to achieve.

What are some of the changes you’ve noticed?

After 3.5 months I was feeling fitter and stronger, it wasn’t just strength and running I also learned about race nutrition and post running food. Previously I had snakes and bacon and egg rolls post runs. Having protein and the correct nutrition has helped me with long-distance running. I also learned about the correct gear to buy for trail running, this made me feel more confident as I started to do the long runs.

I have a greater understanding of the tactics and mechanics of long-distance running that I wasn’t aware of before the program.

I also feel great, I’ve never felt this fit and have received lots of great compliments!

What is life like now?

I did say I’d retire after my 50KM race… give me a month though and I’ll let you know about my next challenge!

What do you love most about training with V&B Athletic?

You are trained by experts who truly know about the craft of running, they are machines and really inspire you.

The best thing is that they also genuinely care about you and what you are trying to achieve, which I believe is their USP.

What would you say to anyone thinking of training with V&B Athletic?

Do it!

V & B is a truly unique offering in a flooded fitness market. What makes them unique is that it will give you 360 fitness and isn’t focused on unhealthy weight loss challenges etc.
