Born from an obsession with ultra-running and endurance events
V&B Athletic was founded by two best mates who turned their passion for fitness and healthy living into a purpose.
Co-Founder & Coach
Endurance athlete, mountain biker and procrastinating artist. Nicknamed “Sarge” following his time as an Original Bootcamp Instructor, Jase follows a “firm but fair” approach for getting the best out of his clients and believes that just beyond discomfort is the best run of your life.
He finds it immensely rewarding to play a part in helping people push beyond their limits and achieve the extraordinary. Jase is passionate about ultra-endurance events and being actively involved in health and fitness initiatives within the local community. He hosts a free weekly run club every Wednesday night with Pace Athletic Rozelle and Balmain Sports Medicine, helping people discover the same enjoyment he gets from running.
Co-Founder & Coach
Long-distance cyclist, endurance athlete and our resident soft sand running specialist, DJ is “glass half full” when it comes to training. With a detailed understanding of what it takes to achieve extraordinary results, DJ is well versed on how to encourage his clients to dig that extra bit deeper and discover the best version of themselves.
DJ is passionate about using his love of endurance running and cycling events to help others achieve things they may have (like himself) previously thought impossible, and works with a number of charitable organisations to raise funds for kids and families in Australia and overseas to create real, long-term health and educational benefits
STRONGCorps Instructor
Coach Ned as she is affectionately known is one of our STRONGCorps instructor team who brings a special brand of toughness to her sessions and believes in quality over quantity. For her a badly performed exercise will do more harm than good so get your technique right and great things will follow!
When she’s not coaching you’ll find her at the beach staying active. Beach tennis for the win! She’s a passionate foodie. So if you want to distract her, start talking about what you cooked this weekend. Some of her achievements include becoming a coach, personal trainer and an Australian citizen but by far giving birth to her beautiful son Niko tops the list.
Sports Dietitian
As co-founder and co-owner of the Health & Performance Collective Chloe is an Advanced Sports Dietitian, Accredited Practicing Dietitian and an expert in gut health, food intolerances and sports nutrition.
Chloe looks after our Training Nutrition programs and among her many achievements, has created a world-class online course, The FODMAP Challenge, helping individuals identify gut intolerance symptoms, and is the lead author of the book ‘Anti-Inflammatory Eating’.
RUNCorps® Coach
Coach Fitz as we like to call him is one of our RUNCorps® coaching team!
When he’s not coaching you’ll find Kris knocking out a few hundred kilometres on Zwift or getting his shoes dirty enjoying some of his local trails.
Over the years V&B Athletic founders David “DJ” Jones and Jase “Sarge” Cronshaw have experienced a wide range of health and fitness training programs. Skills and qualifications they’ve gained from their time spent in the corporate world have enabled them to develop strategies and programming that they now use to help others embark on their own life-changing journeys.
DJ introduced Jase to the Long Trail and as running fanatics, they have since run in excess of 7,000 km together in ultra endurance races, both in Australia and overseas. They’ve successfully competed in events such as Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Survival Run Australia, Motatapu New Zealand, TNF100, UTMB, GNW100, Buffalo Stampede, Hounslow Classic and Bali Hope Ultra.
With many of those events and training hours needing to fit around busy professional careers and families, they developed a range of techniques for maximising the effectiveness and efficiency of their own training sessions. The same approach they now use when helping their clients go beyond their impossible.
We’re often asked, “Where did the name V&B Athletic come from?”
Meet Vicki Griffiths and Barb Macklow, two incredibly inspiring ultramarathoners. In this short video, they talk about their experiences and philosophies of running and training for 100-mile endurance runs.
DJ and Jase came across their story in early 2011 just as their own ultramarathon experiences were beginning and immediately recognised similarities. More than just training partners, these two ladies are also great friends. Enjoy!
